#Ekasi life

Background
Ekasi life was never about the glamour and fame but the real deal at hand, here you wake -up early in the morning, travel long distance, borrow sugar and tea bags at your next-door neighbours, here you share and you care. If you haven't explored kasi life there is always a first time for everything. We as the upcoming generation need to embrace and enjoy our kasi life no matter the circumstances and challenges we face.

  Disadvantages of kasi life:

  • No privacy- there is a good change your nearest neighbor might come and visit.
  • You do not have a big yard- for kids to play most play in the streets.
  • Exposed to the wildlife of the era- criminal activities.
  • Self -sufficient- create small business for extra income.
  • Long travel distance- walk, taxi's or buses.
  • Far from health care services and libraries.
  • No internet access- when doing assignment or search for information.
  • kasi shops kasi life

       Advantages of kasi life

  • Cost of living is low compare to city lives
  • One is living close to nature, fresh air
  • Close relationships with people around the community
  • Public transport is faster and available
  • Entertainment and tourism is affordable around kasi life

Recommendations

  • Create job opportunities nearby, to avoid waking up early and travel long distance.
  • Build schools, library and health care for better sanitation and education.
  • Build a safe environment where kids can play like a park and employ security for the safety of our children and people around.
  • Develop rea-vaya station into this rural places, for better transport service at a low cost.

This is to assist children with needs and seeks to create awareness through helping,
developing, motivate and empower the kids to become sustainable individuals once they leave ekasi. To create a platform where they would feel at home at all times and secure their future by providing them with tools that would change their lives so that they can reach their true potential and make it a National priority.
We want to ensure that there is a better future for them and they should not be worried. To alleviate poverty in Southern Africa by providing care for kasi life.
#letscareletsshare should be celebrated worldwide, we should learn to share in order for our tomorrow to be better. It challenges the barriers we have set in front of us, exposes us to let everyone in and build together.

  1. Implementation of after school programs would also help children to be better and to stay out of danger during non school hours

  3. I grew up in kasi and I’m proud of it. I am what I am today because of kasi. The cost of living is not high like in other places and the advantage of living in kasi is that you get to learn most of the things in the hard way and that toughen us up. One of the disadvantages is the lack of opportunities

  6. I honestly feel so delighted that you could and we're able to speak about Kasi and the hustle. Being from Kasi taught some of us how be strong and hustle in order to have the glam life we all dream of having. We see a lot of men and women selling stuff like amagwinya(Fat cakes) which is one of the Favorite Kasi dreakfbre to have just so they can put food on the table. I have a huge smile on face as we speak.

Talking about amma fat cakes with achar in the morning the best and it only cost you R5. Besides the drama and crimes happening in our kasi lives it makes one want to wake up in the morning.
